Does it make any difference if there is gap between elevator and stab?
I was installing the elevator to the horizontal stabilizer and there seems to be slight gap(enough that i can see thru) between the elevator and horizontal stabilizer. Does it make any difference or not?

Depends on how slight, and what model.
A trainer can have a pretty big gap with out much problem. But a 40% Edge 540 might have a problem with the same gap space.
if it is not extreme then I would seal it with some tape or covering and go fly it

No difference in performance whether is 1/8" or two inches.

airbatics wrong.
Always seal your control surfaces with diamond tape. It makes a huge difference.
You get more precise control and much better control response.

You don't need anything special, a strip of covering will do fine. For that matter, so would masking tape if it didn't look so bad. Just apply it to the inside of the relief and you're good to go!

I would try to "minimize" any gap on any surface. It's not "as much" of a factor on smaller/slower trainer type planes, but you're inviting flutter on faster/more aerobatic planes.
Good flights start out with good preparation.

as long as youve got tape sealing the surface , you only need one layer. There is no need to put tape/covering on both sides on the hinge.

Tape I use.....
Hi,
I agree with the others about the importance of sealing all hinge gaps. It stops flutter and makes the plane much more responsive and gives a better "feel" while flying.
The tape I use is 3M Vinyl Repair tape. It is a little thicker than regular tape and is very sticky so there are no problems with it coming off. I just use cleaner/alcohol on the hinge gap, form the tape into a V and insert it pressing down into the gap only. I then take a single edge razor blade and trim off tape outside the gap. It is almost invisible and really works well.
Hope this helps...

Luke 3D, if you have a plane thats gets extremely dirty when flown, sealing boh sides does make cleanup easier.

3M also makes a tape called Blendderm(sp?). It is clear and extremely flexible. It was formulated to adhere well to your skin (medical applications). Since skin is inherently oily, this tape is made to stick well in an oily environment. Great stuff.
