Bp,
Bp,
Amazing range. Was that a quad, or heli? What FPV equipment? V nice vid.
I can go over 10 miles theoretically with this setup but the spektrum 2.4ghz will only give me about a good mile before i lose the RC signal. My Video however is crystal clear when the RC Link gets dropped.
Luckily i have a fail safe in the quad in which it returns to HOME once RC Link is lost but i can resume control when i get within range.

That brush was so overgrown that a giant scale, or any plane with substantial weight, that went down with a fuel or non control surface problem was doomed. Tom

Hum?? Flying over the parking lot, flying over a guy who's flying his Heli,, and yes there is a guy at the main flight line.... Same circus,, just the performers change
Wow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdJr8...4&feature=plcp
Flying over the road too,, No wonder the FAA wants guidelines for these things,, this guy put the whole field at risk with this BS

There was not a single person on the flightline of the main runway, while you were in the air filming. So I cannot understand why that fellow had a beef with you.

RE: Sepulveda Basin
The issue is about safety regulations being violated. You can be a great pilot, have the best equipment; You can still have an accident in the worst of places, then what? You clearly not only went beyond the heli zone, but out of the entire field and over busy traffic below! That could have caused an accident that could be quite serious! Someone gets distracted, or you lose it into the cars. This is why it is such a safety concern to us members at the field. Though i'm the heli dirctor at the field, I am held to the same bounds of rules as everyone else. I've been flying at the basin for 35 years and always keep rules and safety in mind at all times, whether i'm in a race, the only person in the field or testing a bird. We must not overlook the regulations of the field. If we do so, then the field will surely be lost to all. Please respect the rules and regulations of the field as well as safety for all others at all times.

RE: Sepulveda Basin
I've been down there twice a week for the past three weeks. It's a little bit cooler there, then it is up here.
buuuut.....I'm bringing the RV, so I'll have AC.
Stop by for a cold water if you happen to make it.

Sounds good! RV is the way to go in this heat. I will look for a ride. My truck's front end let go. Been listing a couple patterns and small stuff lately on ebay and RCU. Sick of shipping and customs forms...

RE: Sepulveda Basin
The rules are posted on the helipad fence............when you walk from the airplane pit area to the helipad fence you will see the signs that says "NO FLYING IN THE GRASS"................meaning the helicopters are supposed to stay within the round paved helipads.........................the quadcopter is a helicopter with 4 rotor blades. There are also rules posted in the Billboard as you enter the center of the pit area coming from the parking lot. The rules are posted on that billboard that says "NO RC FLYING ON THE U-CONTROL FIELD". The U-Control field is the fenced round paved area next to the parking lot across from the airplane pit area. The rules on the billboard also says "NO FLYING OVER THE GOLF COURSE". The billboard also has a diagram of the RC airplane airspace, the helicopter airspace and the U-Control airspace. Safety and common sense rules to stay within those designated airspaces or else we risk hitting a car or a person in case of a malfunction or pilot error or shift in strong wind direction. Stay within those designated airspaces for your type of aircraft/helicopter/quadcopter/U-control and you are OK. If not, sooner or later somebody will come up to you and tell you to refrain from violating the designated airspace. 'Nuff said.

RE: Sepulveda Basin
I mentioned to the other fpv flyers and multi rotor pilots all your concerns.
We will refrain from flying over the roads and keep within the designated helicopter area.
