oh my gosh, this is just horrible news.

i am glad that jason is alright.

my heart goes out to gary and his family - as well as the other 2 fatalities and their families - one with a jet on thursday i believe.

i was unable to go up there this year because of conflicts at work and i am certainly sorry that we had to see (hear about) any of this.... just a tragedy.

Well i'm sure someone has to have video of the mid-air....... Glad to see Jason made it down in one piece..... Tuff for the other guy.

Hopefully Jason will be at the next club meeting to re-tell his side of this unfortunant accident, but i'm sure he won't hang up his wings just yet.

Hi Joe,

Good news about Jason. I hope we see him soon.

You remember I mentioned the airfield near where I come from?

They have an airshow there and a Hurricane crashed there last week.

Another tragic accident.

Hi David,
that is great news about Jason, very sorry to see that hurricane downed. I do remember you telling me about that airfield. Looked like a total loss. The pilot lost?
Work has me pinned down till after Xmas it looks like right now. How about a basin report? How have you and the fella's been doing during the week days? Getting some flying in now that the weather is more comfortable?
I've has some interesting projects like painting a redline cable car and many train cars from the turn of the last century. Lots of old hardware and neat stuff. !~).

I was at the Basin this past Sat. and it was very busy. The funniest moment was involving these two Guys flying a very large yellow Piper Cub. They were flying right hand turns(opposite of normal wind at the basin), and were coming in for a landing, got underpowered, went to stall, nailed it and the plane made a sharp left turn heading straight for the "hanger" area, with 2 multi thousand dollar Jets, and 10 people including moi, in it's path. I scream "INCOMING!". And thankfully the guy brought it down in time. Here's the kicker: nobody except me even batted an eye. (Even the two Jet owners!)

That's because they know with the distance to the pits anything worth worrying about is going too fast for you to yell look out.

I really love the Basin.
Have one of you Basin regulars tried one of those quiet private fields?
You will get bored in no time.

I hate the basin but it's the best of all the other evils.

I learned to crash from Dirty Bob and another idiot from Hobby Shack many years ago. Then I moved over to the Port a Potti Pilots in Sylmar. Good crew there, especially Tru Cheek. Anyway, now I am in Nong Khai, Thailand, flying a foam Ultimate Bi-Plane, 27" ws and having the time of my life.

The last event I went to at the basin was a 1/4 scale event, Radio impound and all that stuff, meanwhile, there are 2 Mid Eastern *****holes in the parking lot racing their 40 size trainers without wings. So much for freq control. I flew full scale out of Whiteman and Van Nuys for many years and never had a problem with the basin, well except for a 4th of July my friend and I did an inverted low pass in his Pitts over the basin field( maybe 50 ft AGL), we had just departed Van Nuys. Many models buzzing around us like a swarm of nats.

I love the basin too., although I am new to it. But just for kicks I think they should dig a lagoon for RC Subs and boats, and let the Model Rocket guys blast their butts off.
Switch to DX7's and watch the fireworks!

I think the City would say no to the rockets with all that dry brush out there It would be nice to see it cleared out though.

On the boat note, I heard Hansen Dam is the place to go for the boats. I might swing by there once in a while with my tug boat.

Hey Jason P.

Here's the pic I have of the 12X. Looks like there are two sets of dials.

Hey Billy
Thanks for the post
It's good news to know that they will have the dials.
Did you notice the 12X you posted is a Mode 1 Radio with the throttle on the right side.

Doing a little spring cleaning around the shop. Trying to reorganize and make room for the NEW project coming in Nov. I am looking for a good home for this little (80") KMP Beaver. I don't see myself getting it going anytime soon. Has no motor, no servos and no landing gear only floats( KMP sells the gear for about $20 ) If anyone is interested feel free to PM me. First one to my house gets it FREE. No holds, no bring'n it to the field, you want it come and get it. It's in great shape, little dusty though, I think it only has a couple flights.

Billy

P.S. I also have a Focus three channel radio. Great for little electrics. Also FREE. First come first serve.
