Thanks a lot, you all. I really appreciate your efforts.
I had told my LHS I was really interested in the new H9 60-sized P51 and the Great Planes 182, and he put both on backorder. BUT you all have to show the pic of the Aeroworks Cessna 195. It's not on their websiteyet. Any rough idea of the specs? Wingspan and rec power if you know.
Thanks again
Al

For the boaters, I did some extended coverage here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8649219/tm.htm . You'll notice that most of the shots from the show are dark, it's just something about the lighting in there even when using a flash.

Lighting in the shows is always a challenge. I was constantly reviewing my shots and changing flash settings. Even so, the high intensity over head lights make good clear shots tough. I use a diffuser on my flash, but even that does not always work.

Did anyone pick up information on the radio tray and neck strap? If I remember right it said design by Jerry on it and sold for around $50.00, Did they have a web site or phone number? Looks like it would work good.

John, thanks for the excellent coverage of the 09 Toledo RC Show. Your pictures look great, and your short writeup format is easy to follow.
Thanks to Hobbico I'm gonna have to replace my deceased Brio 10 with their Sequence. Wow, nice plane.

Darn John,
I have already drove all the way back to California from the show and you don't have the booth pics and video up yet?
It was great seeing you guys at the show again, the show was real nice this year and the bonus on the weekend was getting to see you guys again and attempt to catch up even though it was pretty hectic.

Unless they were sharing a booth with another exhibitor, it does not appear they were at the show as they do not show up on the exhibitors listed at ToledoShow.com

Yesterday at the show we heard that Hobby-lobby recently had a new owner. Today we got to meet the new owner, Mark Copeland. We spent a few minutes with Marc and quickly discovered that he REALLY loves this hobby, and it dedicated to making Hobby-lobby a bigger part of the hobby than it already is. We wanted to give Mark a chance to greet our RCU members.

I would like to introduce a new exhibitor to this year show, and one that bears serious attention. Hoffman Magnetics is new to brushless motors for RC applications, but not when used in industrial applications. They have an extremely solid standing in the medical, commercial and military/aerospace fields. It was only natural they would turn their talents to the RC hobby industry and have a little fun along the way. They manufacture an extensive line of inrunner and outrunner brushless motors, as well as their flag ship product, the Storm 70 EDF. This is the world first integrated EDF outrunner fan, and its performance is nothing short of astounding. You see, this little 70mm fan can run on 3-5 LiPo cells and will generate up to 4.3 lbs. of static thrust at 1800 watts. The fan unit arrives in your hands fully assembled and balanced requiring only the connectors on the motor leads be soldered in place, then installed in your model. Flying speeds of 170+ mph have been recorded, and that 200+ mph is well within their grasp. The Hoffman team ran demos all weekend long with many people cranking their heads around asking who was firing up a Jet-A burning turbine in the building. It's no turbine, it is an electric ducted fan, and it was one of the most impressive new products at this years show. Even the turbine flyers were taking notice of this little gem. What's the price you ask? $199.00! Yep, $199.00 gets you the fully assembled and balanced fan ready to install in your model and give it performance you have only dreamed about. Keep an eye on these guys for larger fans in the future as well as their motors designed for prop flight.
Almost directly behind Hoffman Magnetics were EnerLand. They are a division of A123 Systems and as you might guess, they are experts in A123 Lithium batteries. It is no stretch to state they have batteries and battery management systems available for any size and type of RC model.
Tejera Microsystems Engineering Inc. (TME) build an excellent line of battery chargers, battery management systems and a smoke system that will cloud up the clearest of days.
JetCentral was on hand with their newest release, the Rabbit model turbine. This is a 19 lb. engine with the fastest acceleration in its class. And like all JetCentral engines, the Rabbit comes with JetCentral's limited lifetime warranty.
Dubro was on hand with a good stock of many of their more popular items for sale. They also had a couple of new items you should be aware of. The first is their new cowl mounting system designed for fiberglass and ABS cowlings. These brackets include a unique vibration isolation mount to prevent distortion and cracks from developing over time in the cowl you worked so hard to build and paint with a flawless finish. The other item highlighted was their new inline fueling system. This is an amazingly simple valve that does not rely on springs or easy to lose probes. Simply attach the line from your fuel pump, pull the slide valve to the open position and you are ready to fill or empty the tank. When you are finished, remove the pump line and push the cap over the valve inlet. The valve will close and you are ready to go flying.

Here we find Dave Brown Products. Long established as a producer of very reliable, and reasonably priced airplane related products. Their spinners are spun aluminum, they make some of the best vibration isolating engines mounts available, and their flight simulator has realistic flight characteristics without requiring a $2000.00+ computer to run. Don't forget their mechanical retracts. These units have been around for many years, but they are just a reliable and rugged, without being too large or heavy, as they ever were. I have used several sets of these gear in my own models and never once had a failure, or been concerned with their performance. Yes, Dave is playing a banjo. This was later Sunday when the show started winding down. Dave Platt was nearby playing his guitar about the same time. It was a nice distraction from the hustle and bustle that had been the previous 2 1/2 days.
Sig. Everyone knows Sig, and for good reason. This company has been around for 58 years and has produced and sold some of the greatest RC models ever known. Their history reads as a whose who of R/C modeling. My first RC model was a Kadet Mk II. The model is still available more than 25 years later and it is still as great a flying model now as it was then. Of course newer designs have been released since then and one of the newest is the Kadet Senorita EP ARF. The model includes a two piece bolt-on wing for easy transportation and is covered in the traditional transparent red and black trim scheme which is not only attractive, but easy to see in the air. Just what a beginner needs. But, do not think Sig is only about trainers. They also produce some of the best sport flying models you will ever come across. The 4-Star series of models as well as the Astro Hog, Hog Bipe, Somethin' Extra, Rascal, Kobra's, Kougar, etc., are models that build quickly, easily and fly superbly. Don't forget to check out their cool new combination balancer for props, and complete models!
Castle Creations was EVERYWHERE at this years show, and for good reason. They have become the benchmark by which all other ESC's are judged. It doesn't matter if you fly micro indoor models, or the largest giant scale or ducted fan, Castle has an ESC to fit your needs. New this year is the new Ice line of ESC's. These controllers are suitable for up to 8c Lipo's with a 5A BEC integrated into the controller. They also include data logging so you can review your engine, battery and ESC performance after each flight should you desire. Currently available in 50, 75 and 100 amp models, more will be released during this year to eventually replace the Pheonix line. For you RC car fans, keep an eye out for Castle to show up factory installed in select Traxxas models!

Curious how big the show was this year? Here are a few shots taken from the upstairs meeting rooms overlooking the main show floor. Crowds were generally MUCH larger. These shots were taken towards the end of the day Sunday which is historically when things really wind down.
A neat find in the swap shop. A plane with an RCUniverse sticker on the tail. The model was a Bridi XLT or Escape, looked to be well built and was very reasonably priced. Hopefully one of you are the lucky new owner of the model.

Ohio Model Products (OMP) had several new models at the show. They were so new, they worked almost all night Friday to get them ready for Saturday morning. Their new 50cc Yak 55 and Extra 300 look really nice as does their 85cc Extra 260. These models are very clean. The workmanship is second to none and the covering jobs were superb. For those itching for a Fusion, here it is.
Tru Turn had their excellent line of spinners and prop nuts on display, and for sale. For you electric flyers, Tru Turn has you covered as well. Take a look at their display cut away to see how nicely made these spinner assemblies are. Tru Turn is also carrying the Costa Del Mar sunglasses. These glasses are look great, fit better, and block the suns UV rays from causing excessive blur and haze while you're trying to keep an eye on your model.
RC Skydiving. Yes, they had one of the coolest releases at this years show. Check out the dude strapped to the flying wing powered by a pair if electric ducted fans. You don't just get the thrill of flying a little dude strapped to a jet powered wing, he also has a parachute! How cool is that! This model is definitely on my short list of must buy items this year!

Transavia Airtruck. How small is it? The display card is approximately 4"X6".
Jim Young built this very nice Wedell-Williams 44.
Allen Mrock built the Sikorsky S-39. How would you like to buid a jig to hold the fuse, wing, tail and floats so the struts could be built and attached?
Sepp Viberlacher built the nicely done Hawker Hurricane finished in a not often seen desert camouflage scheme.
Charles Brooks built this fine example of a Piper L-4A. When you get to looking at this plane, it is obvious a great deal of effort was put into making sure all of the scale details were present.
Karl H. Jacob built the Albatross with full scale detail. This model could easily have been put on display in a museum.
Allen Mrock has a thing for aquatic airplanes and he has also been very busy. His Loening "San Francisco" was built from a Classic Aero kit and used an Astro 05 geared brushless motor for power.
Jerry Shutic built his highyly detailed Eindecker E 111 complete with a grinning pilot ready to shoot down an Allied pilot.
Greg Hahn had on display one of the more impressive models (and that is saying a lot!) at this years show. His B-25D "Tondelayo" was beautiful no matter how far away you observed it. The closer you got, the more detail there was to see.
Another one of Dave Platt's models of not often seen designs is his Mitsubishi Ki-51. As is typical for Dave's models, they really show he knows his craft.

It produced an even better turbine sound than the Storm.
It's going to be a good time for EDF's it seems.
