Default Magic Extra engine options

I just bought a Magic Extra and OS 46FX as combined Father's Day / Birthday pressie. This is a semi-serious attempt to decide which engine to put in the Extra.

I'm thinking of putting the 46FX into my LT-40 to break it in, then maybe transfer it into the Extra. Meanwhile, the LT-40 has an Irvine .39 in it which might also be a good option.
I'm thinking of getting an Irvine .53 soon, the others just happen to be in my collection that I thought to include just for the L of it

im just wondering why you've given this list of engines and ask which you shuld put in a magic. if you forced me it would be the irvine 39, but i'd rather have a Leo 37 SF
the rest in this plane are just pointless

You have the .46 FX. Might as well use it. It will power that plane with no problem. Should even hover with it. Thats what I am putting in mine.

I disagree. This plane is mainly for hovering. If you put an Irvine .39 on the magic, you would have to use full throttle stick movement in order to hover due to less power. If you use and larger engine with low pitch prop, such as the Irvine .53 or Magnum .52, you can set it up so that you can hover at half throttle and have finer control over the plane while in a hover because you won't need to move the stick as far forward.

I did say this was a semi-serious attempt at engine selection

I can't imagine, for example, someone seriously suggesting that I put the Webra T4-60 in it! :stupid:

I just included the 'available' engines in my collection... I'll probably go with the 46FX at least until I get my hands on an Irvine 53..

It's one of those cloaking-type props.

i did miss it was a magic extra, i saw magic, maybe the extra would like a bit more grunt for the other stuff, but im still in the mind set light plae, light engine regardless if its a bit larger. i just prefer the slow flying ability of these planes.
anyways, i have a Leo37 on my Cougar, same kinda thing as a Magic, only it hovers and the rudder is useable and anyone that thinks you need full throttle is talking out there ***** becides, the engine is working better in that range than at 1/3 throttle, i know that from my lightweight funfly with a Magnum 36, needs a 32 or good 25 really
