Fields/clubs in Las Vegas
I just found out that my wife and I are moving to Las Vegas in August...yes, but it's a dry heat...and I want to know what fields and clubs are in the area and any information as to which are good and which to avoid. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm curious also about flying fields in the Vegas area. I should be starting a construction job there soon. Is the big drylake south of the Railroad Pass casino on the way to Searchlight a good place to fly? How about in the Overton area?

I was just in Vegas a couple of weeks ago. When flying in, I noticed a LARGE, paved RC facility with a couple of shelters/buildings. I don't know the name of it, but it was due East of Vegas, about half way to Lake Mead.
Beyond that, you can do a search on AMA's website.
Good Luck,

If you need space there are three large dry lakes beside the paved fields and also an electric club that uses a big school yard on weekends. Drop into Peoples hobbies or Nice Twice hobbies for directions and clubs.
The Lake mead area is also good for float flying if you enjoy it.

Fields/clubs in Las Vegas
I'm moving because the wife is being transferred. Are the fields public fields in that I only need AMA to fly or must I join a club? I will most likely be living up north so that field seems to make the most sense unless it is an expensive club then I guess I could just fly at a dry lake bed. We will probably be getting into town around the end of July and will have to check the fields/clubs out. Thanks for the info!!!

Mike all the fields here are public. If you do not wish to join a club thats alright to. In the summer we get out very early to fly around 7 to 8 AM and wrap it up about 10 AM . This is the desert and it do get a might warm. When you go to fly take a lot to drink. We have guys here that fly the big stuff all the way down to indoor RC. Whatever your interest I'm sure you will find people here to fly with.
