USING ROM AIR RETRACTS FOR THE TOP FLITE B-25
Hi everyone,
Getting back into RC after a 6 year layoff. Just ordered the Top Flite B-25 ARF, 88in. wing span and weight around 18 lbs. Have old ROM AIR retracts for a 12 lb. model with 3/16 in. dia struts. Can anyone tell me as to how I can revise the old ROM AIR's to work on the Top Flite B-25?
Also any suggestions on how to ensure a reliable steerable nose wheel (retracting) using the ROM AIR system for the B-52 will be appreciated!
Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,
I don't think the 3/16th wire retracts will be enough. I went with the Robarts with the struts. The cost was high, but they drop right in and so far have worked very well. You could get by if you added the robostruts, but I think you would be pushing the limit with 60 sized retracts in a giant scale plane.
Regards,
Dave

Those old Rhom Airs are pretty highly sought after for classic pattern; you might just want to Ebay them then use the proceeds toward the more robust Robart gear (with oleo struts).
