I got scamed
OK well Im sure we all have been scamed before here on RCU, well, I was just scamed and now what Im trying to figure out is where to start proceeding to get this scum bag caught. Right now his account here on rcu Is suspended, due to me. But I still want to find this looser, he did go by the name "offroadfun75" which his email is the same as his call tag but a yahoo email. I know no one probably knows him, but I think if you do it would be nice if they would come forward to let me know. again post anything if you have any info on how and what to do so I can get started. Thanks Chris

RE: I got scamed
From time to time different members have tried to get a forum devoted to "scammers & info on scammers". Before any member bought anything, all would have to do is look at the "list". If the potential seller was on the list, we would have a "heads up". If we still bought from them, we would have nobody to blame but ourselves. However the mods have always resisted the idea, pretty much ( I think) to keep someone from falsely accuseing some one, or a personal vendeta against some unlucky seller. I can see the big advantage of such a forum, but I can also see some people taking advantage of it. The mods see the "whole picture" & we sometimes can't see all the facts. I sure do think we need something to help us from getting "ripped off".

RE: I got scamed
sKrUb_69 I hope it works out in your favor.
Threads such as this are too common and it reminds me of advice a Wells Fargo banker told me a long time ago: For most transactions(except for in store like a grocery store) always use a credit card, never use a debit card.
When you use a credit card, you're using bank money. Banks come to your aid more readily when its their money. Over many years while banking with several different banks I've seen this play out firsthand.
When online I only use a credit card and the disputes I've had with a credit card have been handled quickly and 100% in my favor. On the other hand I formerly had debit card disputes with two separate banks (Chase and Key Bank) that dragged out for months. I eventually quit both of those banks because they didn't support me in those disputes. I was in the the right both times but the banks didn't step up and do the right thing.
Credit cards are more of a hassle because you have to pay the bill each month before interest kicks in, but overall a better way to go. I don't know a lot about pay pal, but hear good things about it. I assume it could be similar with pay pal - associating a credit card with a pay pal account may be safer than a debit card, but don't have experience and don't know.
sKrUb, sorry for taking your thread off course.

RE: I got scamed
Just a little suggestion here. I try to never trade/deal with anyone that has the same email address as their username UNLESS they have good verifiable feedback on other sites. Typically the only reason they made the e-mail was to make an account for the one purpose of scamming someone. And when they get banned for it, they'll just make another e-mail out/account and repeat. It's not always true, but being proactive like that has kept me from being scammed in any of the trades i've done on here and other sites thus far.
