Default No flying in the Chicago area this weekend

I know what I won't be doing this weekend. The President's in town so the geniuses at the FAA have decided that RC planes constitute a hazard to his safety. [:'(]

A new FDC NOTAM/TFR has been issued for the greater Chicago, IL area beginning at 7:01p on Thursday, 5/27, and lasting until 5:30p CDT on Monday, 5/31. The TFR is issued for security purposes to cover VIP movement in this area. Model aircraft operations are prohibited in this area during the specific times of the TFR. Please note that TFRs are subject to change with very short notice. Check back often for the most current NOTAM/TFR information.

Timely alerts are also available on the web or on you cell phone at: Twitter.com/amagov.

See the links to the TFRs below for more detailed information regarding the restrictions:

Area 1 (5/27, 7:01p - 5/31, 5:30p CDT)
(30nm radius from Latitude: 41º54'14"N, Longitude: 87º37'58"W)
Area 2 (5/27, 7:01p - 8:15p CDT)

Yeah it is BS ..we had a shut down on the first good weekend (weather wise) last month.

I wonder if they fear rc airplanes?

Or are they possibly jamming all rc channels around themselves when they fly? Maybe they are just trying not to shoot down models.....

I just wondered if besides pouring over radar looking at stuff, they were also jamming most outside signals...Which of course could be deadly at an rc field...

They arent jamming anything if they were the first things to stop working would be cordless phones, wireless routers, cell phones, bluetooth ect ect. The fact
of the matter is rc planes arent a real threat to anything but the notam is there just in case the Secret Service wants the FAA to intervene in somthing thatthey
may preceive as a threat.

Looked like it was to bad weather to fly up there anyway. I saw Obama under a umbrela telling people to get back in thier cars so they don,t get struck by lightning.
