No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
I know what I won't be doing this weekend. The President's in town so the geniuses at the FAA have decided that RC planes constitute a hazard to his safety. [:'(]

RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
Yeah it is BS ..we had a shut down on the first good weekend (weather wise) last month.
I wonder if they fear rc airplanes? Or are they possibly jamming all rc channels around themselves when they fly? Maybe they are just trying not to shoot down models..... |
RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
Somehow, I don't think they're worried about us OR our RC planes!!

RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
Thats why we need a good rc pilet in the olvel office. Every where he goes he will want to see RC flying. Come on guys lets put ower heads together and find one of us to run in 2012. ;)

Kid-Epoxy

RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
I just wondered if besides pouring over radar looking at stuff, they were also jamming most outside signals...Which of course could be deadly at an rc field...
|
RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
They arent jamming anything if they were the first things to stop working would be cordless phones, wireless routers, cell phones, bluetooth ect ect. The fact
of the matter is rc planes arent a real threat to anything but the notam is there just in case the Secret Service wants the FAA to intervene in somthing thatthey may preceive as a threat. |
RE: No flying in the Chicago area this weekend
Looked like it was to bad weather to fly up there anyway. I saw Obama under a umbrela telling people to get back in thier cars so they don,t get struck by lightning.
