Default Fiberglass cloth source?

What are some good sources for large amounts of fiberglass cloth? Not the little packages you get at the hobbyshop.
Thanks

Any body shop gets 36" roles of fiberglass cloth if you want to purchase it. An other good sourse is an automotive shop, get a friend there and ask them to save the detonated airbags from car wrecks, it is not fiberglass, it is kevlar. I have been using the kevlar cloth from airbags for all kinds of repairs and it works just the same as glassing, but the squares are smaller in it and it covers looking "nearly" smooth.

Try McMaster-Carr or Aircraft Spuce and Specialty. One or both will probably have it.

I've bought my last several batches (glass, kevlar, and carbon) off Ebay.

I've found some odd lots/sizes that work fine for me, but at a good saving.

US Composites .com , good prices , fast service, buy by the yard with price breaks at 5/10/15/roll. Nice variety too.

CST or www.fibreglast.com

According to a study from UNC the tensile strength of West Systems Epoxy was around 9,000 psi and Fibre Glast Epoxy was around 30,000 psi (I'm pulling this from my rusty noggin' so the numbers may be a bit off but not by much) but I'm simply trying to say the Fibreglast, eventhough it's not as big a name as West, still makes a good product and it's aerospace quality meaning it's used for full scale applications.

I've used CST and Fibreglast cloth and they're both great. Both wet out good and are very similar.

I would discourage you from the 'bargin' cloth from discount shops or ebay if you're doing anything sturctural because it is often seconds or damaged and does not wet out well or some other problems. For non structural parts then it works fine. I have never used it though, it's just hear-say however if I run across some again I'll get it for some of these odd jobs.

That's my 2 cents.

THAYERCRAFT.COM AS ABOVE! I have purchased a thousand yds. of many weaves and weights of glass cloth from them, always getting samples of new stuff. THE PRICES ARE UNBEATABLE!!!!! He has a weave that I like that you can wrap around a ball! Amazing! Give them a call, get the catalog, and order away! Oh, resin you ask? I go to Lowes and get Bondo, Elmers, or whatever is on sale. I buy by the gallon. You don't have to spend ten times the cost on those "special" resins or epoxy's, silly! Enjoy your glassing!

I have used Thayercraft for fiberglass, and both http://stores.ebay.com/Elite-Motoring and http://cjcompositestechnology.com/ for Carbon Fiber and Hybrid Cloths. Their prices are very good, and they are USA companies. They ship fast and will do small orders. Good luck with your project, John Taylor
