Default Custom Fiberglass Enclosure Demands Expert(s) Advice

Hey,

Intro:

I'm about to start fabrication of an enclosure to be used to protect an electronic tracking device that will be used to track larger birds.

Previously we had just a plastic box manufactored for it, which worked, but it ended up bei ng way too heavy (50~ grams), and ended up not being waterproof where the wires came out. (wires have to come out to attach to a solar panel....

Now, I happened to have an old fiberglass auto-repair kit that I used to make a very bad first attempt at a case.... (one on the right). Problems with how I appoached this one is that, I didn't know what I was doing, and it took too much time, lots of sagging, and doesn't have enough surface area for a solar panel... but this one weighed at about 23grams (woohoo)

Now for the next attempt, I plan on making the six sides seperately, then doing the edges one at a time with fiberglass tape.

My questions:

I don't know the best procedure for applying tape. Do I apply/squeegee the epoxy out first then place it on the edges or the other way around?

Both of these enclosures lack a feature we badly need. Grommets (needed so that we have a way to attach the device to a harness)
Any idea of how we can attach grommets to fiberglass, would it be easier to do it when when it is still a fabric? or easier when after it has been fabricated?

Thanks

Also, I can't figure out how to remove the "<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">" from appearing in my post.

Terribly sorry about that =/
