    Carbon Fiber Landing Gear..

I bought some carbon fiber landing gear for my Eagle 580 .46/.81 (It has a Supertigre G.90 on it) to replace the stock gear as the paint constantly cracks, but now the problem is I want the scale look of the original 580.

I was wondering if I could cover the gear with a piece of Monokote Cub Yellow to cover up the black finish? In theory it should work, but has anyone tried it?

    Thank you, for any advice.

I would think it would be much easier to paint it. Order up some Lusterkote flat white and cub yellow. Prep the CF by sanding with 320, spray the white, let dry, spray the yellow and done. If you try to cover it, you will end up with lots of bubbles.

Yea the only issue is will the paint crack from stress?

That's the only issue I'm afraid of with paint.

The cracking is due to poor prep. Sand and clean the gear before paint well enough and it's a non issue.

Use a flex agent in the paint to prevent cracking. Every rubber car bumper is using some king of flex agent in the paint. I've used a drop or two of castor oil in the past. But that was in dope and lacquer paint.

Lusterkote is very flexible. I have used it on plastic parts that have alot of flex. Prep the surface correctly and it will not crack or peel.
