Default Any Carbon Fiber Kits out there?

Hi guys,

I would be really interested in a carbon fiber RC plane. Maybe an extra 300 or an ultimate bipe.

Does anyone know of any kits out there that can be purchased?

OK I'll bite..............Why do you want an airplane made from CF? There really is no advantage and lots of reasons to not make an airplane from CF

Because it seems cool!

Would a CF skin be stiff enough to beat the conventional balsa / platic coating?

Yes it would beat the balsa and plastic one. Along with a healthy beating for your piggy bank.

Depends on what you mean by " Beats " Yes it would be stronger however unless you went with ulta expensive CF fabrics it would come out heavier then a conventional balsa and ply build. I am assuming this based on an average 50cc size airplane. The CF structure would also mean you would have to use radio equipment that is set up to deal with the signal penetration, signal reflective properties of CF. The more popular composite manufacturers are staying away from the use of CF except in key areas such as firewall re-enforcement and spar caps. The only all CF airplanes that I have seen on a production level are some of the high end sailplanes. They most likely use less then 25% of the material of a 50cc airplane and cost up to 5K
