Default Covering Airframes with Vinyl???

I recently saw a gorgeous "chromed" P-47 that was covered in vinyl! There were no wrinkles or bubbles apparent and the builder stated that it was the same type of vinyl used to cover cars that you see with full body logo's. He also said that it is no heavier than any of the other brand name coverings. Unfortunately, I did not pick his brain for the details of how to apply it so I'm hoping some of you may have the scoop on this.

Happy Flying!
