Fiberglass fuselage-prep?
I have an unfinished fiberglass fuse that has some cracks and small holes. How do I go about filling the holes and cracks and get it ready to prime for painting?
New to fiberglass fuselage.
thanks

RE: Fiberglass fuselage-prep?
Solo,
You would have to define what size cracks and holes you are referring to. If it is pin holes and very small crack then I use a spot putty bought in my local auto supply store in the paint and body repair section. If you are talking something larger then pin holes then I would use epoxy mixed with micro balloons or some other epoxy thickener.
While you are at the auto store you might want to pick up a bottle of wax remover or surface prep/cleaner to remove any wax that might have transferred from the molding process. if you just start to sand you could force the wax deeper into the finished surface making the possibility of getting a fish eye effect when you start to paint, not to mention a bad adhesion of paint to surface.
