Default PVA release, Elmer's White Glue pva?

White glues are PVA, is that the same as the mold release, or would it work you think?

I stopped using PVA a little while ago. A good wax job does the job every time.

Elmers is not poly vinyl alcohol! Take it from one who has had the experience, just wax may be okay for some but all you need is for a layup to get stuck in a mold just once and both get destroyed to rely on both wax and PVA. Regards.

Yeah 5 coats of wax and 1 of PVA. Works a treat.
If you have a stuck mould just inject water between plug and finished article and it comes apart no probs.
PVA just dissolves on H20

Hi gjs,

I belive that the PVA in white glue stands for poly vinyl acetate not poly vinyl alcohol. Same letters, but big difference.

Hope this helps,

Kev

In a pinch, you can use a spray can of hail spray, I have used Aqua Net (sp?) along with lots of waxing, waxing first obviously.

GJS,

If you are looking at a substitute because you cant find some.....
Any marine supply or boat repair shop should carry it.
The stuff leaves a micro thin saran-wrap-like purple film that rolls off.

I've heard you can use Pam cooking spray instead of PVA. Anyone tried it?

You could probably use axel grease, I suppose, but I think that I would still go with PVA. It is tried to tested and works fine. Regards.
