Default Glass weights

What is a good cloth weight to use to make cowls with? I have some .56 cloth, and 4 ounce, and seeing some sales on other weights.

You could put down a single layer of the .5 oz to keep from getting pin holes and then 2 layers of 4 oz. ! will usually put in some CF between layers where mounting screws go. I assume this is for your Chippy?

Yep. Great thanks. I will get some CF. If all goes well I should have a nice cowl next week.

Save some money.and work. Put down a layer of epoxy, let cure, then lay up glass. Never a pin hole.

I use 1 layer 4oz and 1 layer 6oz "E" glass. Carbon is not needed. On my Corsair I need nose weight, I lay it up with a 6oz and a 10oz. All "E" glass plain weave.

In fact if you have vibration issues, kevlar would be better at the location where it bolts on.
