Default So Here's one for ya! SAND as a mold build up

I was just surfing around and found a very old thread where someone mentioned seeing something about Sand being added to epoxy and then that being spread on as a build up for molds. The thickened concoction was called 'mud'. Anybody hear about this? There was a link to a very old thread here but its not working. Here's the link to the thread I found... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/comp...2337-sand.html

I have heard of it but have never tried. I can't imagine working with a 100 lb mold. I was concerned about having the " mud " exotherm on me as well. Would have had to mix up a test batch to see what kind of heat it generated.

Ive heard of if done as well. The problem is drying the sand of all moisture.

you may as well just get poravor or soric and be done with it, without all the weight.
