Default Carbon Fiber Canisters?

Has anyone made any successful carbon fiber canisters that are light weight and give better performance? Anyone make them commercially or thinking about it. Last thing is how they are made and what special things need to be taken into consideration.

What for? Film canisters? Gas canisters? Shipping containers? It would all depend upon the use...

And whether there was something else equally suitable for the job and much cheaper.

I am talking like Canisters for gas engines like K&S or PeFa and the likes. I found one manufacturer/maker of such a product and its www.daltonaviation.com . They only make it for the DA 150 it seems but who knows what else he will make.

What cannisters are you talking about, Mufflers or fuel tanks?

I am talking about tuned canister muffler systems. That go with engines like ZDZ 80, DA 100, 3W 106, BME 110X and so on...

Quite a few people have made carbon fibre tuned pipes. I think the manufacturer of "Bolly" props makes some on a commercail basis, that is the only company I am aware of thaty does so.

For the home builder the major issue is whether to layup the pipe over a plug or in a mold. If over a plug then how is the plug removed, if in a mold how is a decent join achieved. It has been done both ways many times. A search on Forums will yield the information. High temperature epoxy resins are available for this purpose.

On there website, Bolly looks like they make tuned pipes for the smaller motors. For now I will probably just use a stock muffler set-up and go from there.

I have heard of using a candle as a plug, then putting it in near boiling water for a while to drain the wax. I don't know if you would have to heat cure it before boiling, or if that would take care of it.
