Honeycomb composite panels
Is there any source for honeycomb composite panels such as the ones pictured?
This is beatiful stuff! Note the carbon honeycomb servo tray and
the fiberglass honeycomb floor.
I found this image at this website. Scroll down for the pictures.

The french company [link=http://www.plprod.com]www.plprod.com[/link] makes these high end all composite pattern ships.
I am trying to get an email answer from them yet.

RE: Honeycomb composite panels
My company produces carbon fiber sandwich panels...but they aren't cored with honeycomb. The core of the panels we make is Divinycel H60 which is similar to Rohacell...both of which are superior to honeycomb in terms of workability. I've got some 1/2" thick carbon / nomex panels in my shop from a Challenger bizjet that were removed from the jet because they were delaminating at the edges...but I'm sure the 'good parts' will get used for something eventually.
Email [email protected] with your size requirements and intended usage and we can take it from there.

Darrin,
Where do you get the 1/16" honeycomb? Or are you using Rohacell?

The panel will have the finish you require. Glossy to peel ply finish.
Wow! Panels are going fast. Some people working on some cool stuff out there!

RE: Honeycomb composite panels
I need to borrow a digi camera so that I can get pics, but once again, the finish is by what are your requirements. As far as size, I can do up to a 4'x8' sheet of 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2, but only 12"x24" pieces can be 1/16 and or autoclaved. I prefer single skin layups. Single skin layups are tricky, but I do not make heavy panels, find someone else for those. Plys will be adding according to the application. (single ply for servo trays, 2~3 for firewalls)
The panels are not cheap because they are prepreg layups, but the best way to go is to get a group together and get a larger piece and share it. For example, a 15"x22"x1/4"" panel can make six 5"x11" servo trays which would work for six 40% or cut those in half and you have twelve trays for 1/4 scale planes. It gets pretty cheap to do it that way.
Email me about price, this is not the "for sale" forum.
