I have been trying off and on for over a year to fabricate a shroud for a .21 sized fan unit... I have not had great success.. I need to buy or fabricate a shroud that is 3 in. in diameter. Does anybody have any ideas? If someone offers a carbon tube that is this large that would be great.. Please help

Take a look at Daniel Schübeler's 90mm EDF's. http://www.schuebeler-jets.de/ His shrouds are carbon skins over Nomex honeycomb cores, closed out with Rohacel around the edges. Let's just say they are light, and very strong. I have not seen better design and workmanship anywhere.

A balsa core would be much easier to fabricate without special tools.

You might try a high powered rocket manufacture for the 3" carbon tube.
They use them for body tubes.
