Composite landing gear
Ciao,
I would like to build a CF landing gear for my diablotin XL. The airplane weights about 15 lbs (6.5/7 kg).
How many layers CF should I use? Any suggestions?
Thank you
Stefano

RE: Composite landing gear
I have a CF landing gear project on my web site that may be of interest. it is for a 35% CAP weighing 26 pounds. You need to use more layers at the upper end, especially around the corner. I did not count, but probably it is in the neighborhood of 20 or 30 layers of 10 ounce cloth. I started with one piece long enough to go tip to tip. in the middle I use shorter pieces that only go partially down the LG leg.

I'm going to attempt to layup a CF landing gear for a much smaller Cap 232.

The plane is has a 29" wingspan and is very light.
I was planning on using 3 strips of CF and 2 layers of tow, one layer between each CF layer. Will that be enough for this plane?
Thanks,
Mike
