Default Landing gear fabrication options

I am making a 30% size model of a light aircraft with fixed gear.
The original use a fiberglass gear that scaled down would have
a cross section of 1/2".
My prototype gear is 1/8" 2024 with endgrain balsa and covered with fiberglass.
This is too soft, and will crack for nothing.
Should I try to make a mold and use glass filled epoxy, or is there another way
to make a solid but flexible gear?
I was thinking of 1/2" polycarbonate, cuold this be used?
