Default Composite Spinners

Does any body know if it is acceptable to make composite spinners? Pro's/con's? I have done some searches and have not found anything. I was thinking that this could be done if the backplate would still be turned aluminum.

Thanks

Jay

I think Bisson advertises them here in RCU.

I would have to say yes. The off white one is "E" glass the Redish black one is the carbon/aramid composite. Diameter aprox 5". Both work. One is $4.00 a yard the other is $30.00.

The smaller the spinner the stronger it will be , the larger not as strong (stiff)

Thanks for the replies guys! What I am looking to do is make a scale spinner for a Hawker Tempest. The diameter is 6.65 inches and about 5.25 inches long. What would be the recommended composite material for something this size? Male plug and maybe vacuum bagging?

Any tips would be great!

There is a very nice article on this on the following url www.geocities.com/pcaverill

The information on this site is also very good if you are interested in very light and very strong construction.

Safe flying!
