Default New to using CF - Question

I need to reenforce a tail boom on a plane to take some strenuous loads. I don't want to increase the plywood size (and associated weight ). Will light weight CF strips (tissue or strips .07 x.25 ) do the job ?

The plane is a Transavia PL 12, like was used in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome. link to photo: http://www.flugzeugbilder.de/search4...L-12%20Airtruk

Thanks

I just realized something - this is to reenforce the tailboom to wing connection.

Can you use a carbon rod inside running the length of the booms?

Campy,

On BVM's Kingcat they used .020" carbon fiber to re-enforce the tail booms. You can see a picture and small write up at:

To Jetflyer,

This answers my questions about the structural reenforcement with minimal weight gain.

To Saramos,

I had been considering using CF tubes to run the push rods through and then CA the CF tubes to the boom structure/framing to stiffen them up before sheeting them. I figured this would be easier (and cheaper) than laminating CF tissue to the outside of the structure.

What would be the best material for laminating them to plywood to provide the strongest joints ? Different articles and messages state everything from thin CA up to and including epoxy for securing the CF. The CF strips/tissue would be used on the boom to wing connection and the CF tubes would be secured to the plywood boom structure to stiffen the booms.

Thanks
