Reinforcing ABS cowling with fiberglass - how do i do it?
That's pretty much it... My RV-4 from GP came in today, and noticed that the ABS cowling is candy wrap. In any case i've read around that everyone seems to share the same problem, and one guy's post motivated me to even coat the inside for strength... How do i do this? Is it cheap?
Thank you very much

This is a simple procedure. You simply glue (epoxy works well) a layer of fiberglass cloth on the inside surface of the cowl. You can put it all over or just in the areas of high stress. You will need to use several pieces because one large piece will not conform to the inside of the cowl.

Another opinion: I use the cement that is used to glue PVC pipe joints to attach the fiber glass cloth. It is available at Home Depot, etc. I have had adhesion problems with both epoxy and CA. And the PVC cement is very inexpensive. I have read where guys have a problem with melting the ABS when the cement is overused. This has not happened to me. I use the purple primer and the cement.
