Default Newcomer to Carbon Fiber world.

I have recently bought an IMPULSE F3A from BN Models and I am now going through its covering and assembling. The plane fuse is fiber glass finished with carbon fiber all the way from nose to tail; such as servo tray, landing gear reinforcement, firewall, ect...
My questions are:
1 - How would you screw the servos and other parts to the Cf sheets and make it secure? Any tip here?
2 - In case I had to drill a hole, how could I avoid cracks and broken chips through such a stiff, yet fragile, material?

Thanks and Cheers

The best thing to do is drill and thru-bolt anything your looking to attach to the carbon plate. And, the best tool to drill carbon plate is a solid carbide drill-bit. They are also very expensive. But I would imagine you are talking about some smaller holes- maybe in the .125" range, and small carbide bits are not that much.

Of course there are always several way's of doing things...Here is my input

Typically you'll drill the hole undersized and then step it up with a reamer...

At home I will typically "back the hole up" with a block of wood while drilling with a carbide twist drill...Then finish up finish with a reamer...

At work we use Dagger Drills...Of course we are dealing with allot thicker laminates than you'll ever see with the R/C stuff...The hole is drilled undersized and stepped up using a reamer...

I havn't invested in any Dagger Drills for my home projects yet...But I will eventually...They are wonderful...But sorta expensive...

I just did a real quick Google search...Here are a couple of links you may find interesting?? (If I find any better ones..I'll post them later)
