Default acrylic and epoxy prep?

What has to be done to acrylic to prep it for one laminat joint and one but joint to plywood? This will be a semi structural joint. I was told that 5200 marine adhesive will work for plexiglass, will this work for acrylic? This will also be a marine aplication.
Thanks
Shawn

Plexiglass is a trade name, it is acrylic.

Hi Shawn I wasn' t trying to be sarcastic. I'm not familiar with that adhesive so I don't know if it will work with your butt joint to the plywood. If that adhesive is for plexiglass it should be fine for the acrylic to acrylic joint but I would use a thick very slow cure epoxy for the acrylic to wood joint, just sand the areas to be glued with 80 grit paper.

Tell you what I decided. I'll laminate two sheets of ply to the acrylic, one on to top and one under then I'll make the but joint to the ply insted. Then I'll reinforce the lamination with cap screws and blind nuts. This is going under the outeredge of the decking on a boat to put LEDs into for night running.
Thanks for the help
Shawn
