home fabric instead of purchased fibers
I am repairing a fuselage, and would like to reinforce the cracked and broken sections with epoxy and the same fiber used to make carbon fiber parts. I don't have this fiber right now and before I buy some , I would like to know if anybody used something similiar they found laying around the house. ETC old nylon socks, tee shirts, beding which is normally linen.
Thanks for all replies.

I have used window screen both fibreglass and metal with epoxy and with extra thick CA and had reasonable results but nothing beats using glass cloth and resin for strength and durability.

thanks for the reply , although late , I used the glass cloth or something called fiber cloth used to repair car fuel tanks and etc. I used epoxy 30 minute for resin didn't feel comfortable buying a can of resin to make such small repairs.

Hmmmmm something that's close to carbon fibre.........
Considering carbon fibre is 5 times stronger in tensile strength than steel, The closest thing is carbon fibre.
Do it, you won't regret it.

Use "S-glass". Cheap, available, and strong. Buy the best epoxy resin you can- the usual hobby shop 30-minute stuff is pretty bad, actually. WestSystems is good.
