How do you thin polyester resin?
Is Polyester resin fuel proof?
If not, can I put a thined layer of epoxy over the Poly?

Thinner
Usually the same for each. But, if you want to get technical about it the recommended thinner is styrene monomer. That is the stuff that puts the stink in polyester resin. Where to get it...http://www.fiberglast.com. you'll find it in the polyester section of the online catalog. Regards.

styrene monomer
The styrene is not a thinner in the normal sense, it will make the polyester resin thinner, but will be incorperated into the polymer when it hardens. It makes polyester easier to sand also makes it more suseptible to high nitro softening it(60% nitro) but it usually isn't a problem. The plus side is the resin won't slowly shrink by off gassing after it hardens like using methanol in epoxy. Though polyester shrinks more than epoxy as it hardens.
