cheapest store to buy fibercloth and epoxy resin
Hi guys:
I want to buy some 2, 5 and 10oz, fibercloth to mold my own stuff.
Also I would like to try the epoxy resins, until now I have been using only polyester one with acceptable succes in cowls and other small pieces.
I have to bring it to Chile, South America, and hope to find something cheaper than hobbico stuff, buying over 10 feets each.
Do you have any tip.
Thanks.
tato.

Try:

A great product. I like it better than West systems.

Tatolazo, you don't say where in Chile you live. If you are close to the coast you could try some of the yacht chandlers and look for marine epoxy resins.
They are the same as most that you can buy, and generally quite a bit cheaper.
I use a local product Epiglass HT9000 which is great - good wetting properties and goes well under vacuum. Has about a 20 minute pot life but when it goes exo-thermic it sets fast... And I have melted a couple of plastic pots with it too...

Probligo:
I live in Concepcion, , almost in the coast, but around here EVERYTHING is done with very heavy chopped fiber mats, and few guys use robin cloth. Recently I found a guy who sells 20oz. sq. yard, but this is too heavy for a cowl.
Also all those use polyester resins, that are quite cheaper. I have been doing my cowls with piolyester, havig great succes, but you can not use it directlly over foam, so I have to carb a mold, make a negative and then make the final product inside the negative mould. That is OK when you are a massive cowl production, but for one only.... .
Anyway, great input, thanks to all. I will buy some stuff for my next projects.
