hi can a air-conditioner vacuum pump be used for vacuum bagging

As I recall there was a very complete thread on how to make a vacuum pump from an old refrigerator pump. Not sure about A/C but I would imagine it's the same thing. Do a search on the refrigerator vacuum pump and I'll bet you'll find something you can use. I have not yet ventured into vacuum bagging but it is something I'd really like to try. Anything for a better/no void layup is great news to me.

Yes, I know people who have a set up with a A/C vacuum pump.

I built their vacuum pump with the Gast motor because I needed close to 29" Hg but a A/C should pull at least 14" for fiberglass parts but you really should use a cut-off switch from Veneering Supplies so it will cut off at the right time, especially if you're doing wings which only need around 7" Hg.

yes anair-conditionervacuumpump works well , iusea 3ft / min small one for carbonfibre, it pulls down to 28hg ,thatsavacuumpump used to empty the gas out of anair-conditioner, not the pump inside theair-conditioner ,

i picked mine up from ebay by anAustraliandistributorfor AU$90 ,at such a good price i bought 2

Look at this...we have just finished making ours . Will be used for vacuum bagging and vacuum forming. We had bought some stuff from Veneer Supplies but most of it is self made.
