Landing gear on a sheeted foam wing

I'd like to put landing gear on a thin sheeted obeechi wing. It's a low wing plane with about a 38 inch span. Should I glass the area that I'll be attaching the gear two? Any hints would be appreciated. I just can't get myself to handlaunch a low wing craft with a small prop. I just know that sooner or later I mess up the launch.
