Looking for .049 Ringmaster plans with built up wing
I had a little Ringmaster for a cox with a built up wing when I was a kid. It was my first powered plane I built and flew. I'd like to do it again.
Anybody have plans for it?
Thanks,
Treven

I don't know off hand where you can get the plans but the place to post your question and get an answer is: www.brotherhoodofthering.info
You will have to register but that forum is devoted entirely to Ringmasters of all kinds.
Good luck, John

The beginners Ringmaster was all sheet and so it must have been the Baby Ringmaster with the built up wing.
Ringmaster Jr. was a between size.
I hope someone has it as I would like to try it too!
Problem is that many of Sterlings halfA size planes were more building instructions than plans. Most did not have all the sheet parts shown full size or were shown full size in only one dimension. especially the stab elevator and formers on built up fuselage models.

Visit Brotherhood of the Ring site and you will be amazed at the offerings from Dee Rice and Pat Johnson! They have Laser cut Ringmaster kits in all sizes (and some you never heard of!) that are miles better than a Sterling kit. Good wood, cad plans. beautiful parts. They fly much better too!

You might also try this site. http://www.clstunt.com/
I did a general search of .049 Ringmaster and got about a hundred hits. There might be more detail with a better search. Also you will probably have to register on this site as well.

Scott17 - That is the exact kit I built as a kid! I now remeber that stork decal. Did you son build that from an original kit? I don't see a kit offered anywhere for the Baby ringmaster or even the Jr Ringmaster which I might like to build too. I now also remember that the Ringmaster used that huge leading edge with the rib notches cut out of it. Seems kind of a strange way to build and if I scratch build I might change that...
I did find the plans for the Jr Ringmaster though...

That's an original kit, but like I said, go to Brotherhood of the Ring and look. all your questions will be answered and you will find more and better than your'e looking for. They have a page of Ringmaster decals to download also.

Hey guys, let me take a look-see and if I still have the plans I can copy them off - both the beginners RM AND baby RM. I just built them both a couple years ago and have both boxes (both planes fly too - regularly), so I just might still have the plans.

RE: Looking for .049 Ringmaster plans with built up wing
treven,
If I remember correctly, the Ringmaster Jr. plans show the top view of the wing as two halves, built individually, then joined. When I built mine, I built the wing as one piece, including the gap, to increase the span and wing area a bit.
Also, the instructions call for a Fox .25(!!). I find that for mine an Enya .09 works nicely. [X(]

What prop and line length when you use the Enya .09? This sounds like a neato combination.

Which Ringmaster Jr. plan do you have? My current plans are from an Estes kit. The wing has a sheeted LE. The Ringmaster Jr's I built back in the fifties had a wing built like the S1 Ringmaster if I remember correctly.
The plan I have shows the top layout of the wing but NO parts are shown other than the wing tips. Assembly, other than the wing, is from isometric pics. For that reason I copied parts on back of the plan. Crude but workable.
Never built the 1/2A one.

I have to laugh...The Baby Ringmaster was my first kit-built plane too. It took me a week's worth of lawn mowing to earn it in 1968 or so. That was several planes later and I'm back to designing and building 1/2 A's again after 35 years off.

RE: Looking for .049 Ringmaster plans with built up wing
Makes me laugh too. My progression started with a Scientific P51 milled solid balsa with a McCoy Wren for power. Followed by a Goldberg Lil' Toot biplane with a Wen Mac rescued from the neighbor kid's plastic Beech Bonanza crash scene. Then a major step up to a Stuntman 23 with a Baby Bee. And finally to a Baby Ringmaster resplendent in Ritt Dye colored silkspan and powered by one of the first Golden Bees i had ever laid eyes on.
Now i'm building Ringmasters, Baby Flight Streaks and Baby Clowns for my grandchildren. Time flies but not as well as a Ringmaster.

RE: Looking for .049 Ringmaster plans with built up wing
The plans shown in Post #21 is the R/C version of a C/L plane from October, 1951, Model Airplane News. The C/L version is Harry Wiliamson's RINGMASTERcontrol line stunt design with a 40 inch wing span and a 9inch chord, not to be confused with the Ringmaster Jr. with the characteristic elliptical tail. It is a straight wing, non-flapped design eligible for OldTime Stunt. His original engine was a black case McCoy Sportsman, but agood .19 or .25 would be just fine.
I have a copy of the full scale plans that I bought from EBay after I had scaled up a reprint of the original magazine article for a .15.Fox. It's an easy builder and a great looker! (I'll try to get some pictures of the one I'm working on up here ASAP).

Btn,
Click on the "attachment pdf" link for the original Ringmaster Jr plan. The JPEG Ringmaster R/C was something that i found on my HD while searching for ringmaster plans and just added for general interest. I've re-attached all of the Ringmaster files i have on my plans drive.
Enjoy.

By golly yer right, there's the RingMaster Jr!. Thanks! Ihad an RM Imperial once too, and got very close to finishing it, but real life duties intervened. I'm not so sure how it would have worked out since the wood seemed very heavy, but Ihave seen some that were beautifully done. A friend of mine also had a an RMJr Flash (?) in the mid-70's with a red-head McCoy 19. My Space is limited these days, so I'm staying in the smaller sizes, .049-.19 stuff. I'm just glad to be building again.
