Yes, I've ended up with two of 'em.

Strong little 09's just a bit better than a TD 09. Rossi have been making and selling them for over two decades I suspect.

One of mine has a head button for a 1/4" x 32 tpi standard plug. The other has a TD like head.

Should make an interesting diesel conversion. I know someone who had done this with some success.

Available from Planethobby at: http://www.planethobby.com/collections/2-09

Gaz, Does the piston have a ball/socket joint on the con rod?

The needle valve and body looks like a cheap alternative to other motors.  Too bad there is no tapered nut available.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it does even though I've never pulled one apart.

The position of the exhaust port is such that it shows no visible wrist pin so it's highly possible.

Ray,

The el cheapo MECOA diesel head should screw straight in.

Do you want one?

Thanks Greg, it would need the thread turned off but it may even fit.

Here's the exploded view for both variants. I notice they're on sale for about USD75.

The next question is whether the crank case has a bronze bushing or does the crank spin directly in the aluminum casting.

I'd bet on the crank running directly in the casting, especially since a bushing isn't shown in the exploded view..

Regrettably I'm not in a position to strip the running one down to have a look. It's in a model.

My NIB one only cost about $52 from Planethobby on a sale, so they're cheap and cheerful!

They run good. Though VERY LOUD. I have one converted to diesel, revs about the same on the same props but more efficient on the fuel burn. It also has a AP .061 carb mated to it.

Sounds very good Skaliwag. If you are making your own diesel fuel, what is the source for amyl nitrate and the ether ?
