Default How do we report spam like the thread below?

I can't find a "Report" link to get the moderators to remove it.

Hi Mike ,

At the lower left hand corner of each post is a little triangle with a ! in the middle of it . If you click on that it will take you to the report post function .

I have already reported the Lebron post , and I'm sure the mods will get to it eventually

Thanks for the reply. I was searching for the "Report Post" links 'in numerous places throughout the forums' - at least that is what the FAQ said. It didn't describe them, though. No doubt the next time I want to use them, I'll have forgotten how to do it again. At least I'll remember this thread though.

Since there doesn't appear to be much response, I've also reported that thread. Best thing we can do is probably let it settle to the bottom by not replying in it and posting more (hint, hint).

The wheels of justice turn exceedingly SLOW here at RCU , but turn they do , and I'm sure it'll be gotten to . Eventually ......

Meanwhile , since this is the control line area , here's a couple of shots of my 'lil jumpin bean"

It's monokote covered and powered by a Black Widow . It's a throwback to my earliest days in the hobby , I found the kit 15 years ago all dusty and forgotten in the back of a closet and built it in homage of the fun I had with CL in the 60s and 70s .

Well, now there is another one (under a different username) - it's some kind of phishing attempt that goes to a 'Streaming TV' site of some sort. Hope the webmaster can figure out a way to block access to these bots.

3 days in a row - different user names, but same b/s. Definitely a spambot.

You can PM me directly and I will take care of the spam threads or if they are individual posts I will get those as well. All I ask is please send me a direct link to the thread or post so I don't have to go hunting for the thread. Tell me there are spam posts over in the Fox engine forum is probably not going to get quick attention from because of the time it's going to take me to go hunt it down!!! But if you send me a link directly to the spam in question I'll nuke it in a matter of minutes!!!!

Hi Ken ,

Thank You for getting rid of the "LaBron" thread , and I have 3 more here as follows ;

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/cont...ll-losses.html

Started by user "hapdeaddircu"

Next is ;

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/cont...n-griffin.html

Started by user "idayliposrcu"

And lastly ;

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/cont...te-friday.html

started by user "hirrullprcu"

Funny that the spammer puts "rcu" at the end of each user name , and one user name contains the word "lipo" , leading me to wonder if the spammer IS somehow familiar with the modeling hobby ?

Anyway , Thank You Ken and Happy Flying

I've removed all these accounts.

You commented about the username with "rcu" in them. Most of these spammers will use the same username in all the sites that they create an account on and will just add the "site name" on to keep track of them with, in this case that would be "rcu"

Ken

Mike ,

RC Ken , the guy who runs this forum , has asked if we could post up links , like I have done above , and then PM him to see the links , and he will remove the spam (and spammer , too)

He has many other things to moderate and sometimes doesn't notice the spam till long after we see it . So anytime you see spam if you post it in this thread and then PM Ken , it will get deleted very quickly .

I have PM'd Ken with a link to every one of these Spambot messages. I have also used the "Report Spam" function on every one of them. Yes, I understand that he gets around to them, and removes the bogus accounts, but this thing is persistant and until the powers that be figure out a way to keep it from opening a couple new accounts every day, this will continue to pop up here. The only thing that I can think of to do would be some kind of Verification system where you have to reply to an e-mail or type in one of those Verification jumbles.

It's apparently set up to open a new account, post 1 message here (Don't know if it has found its way into any other forums) then just wait a while and do it again. I only bump this particular thread to push the spam down the list a ways. Otherwise before long, ONLY the spam messages will show in the message list.

If there was more legitimate traffic here, THAT would also help.
