Default VECO .35 Combat

I posted a picture of a NIB VECO .35 Combat engine on the Vintage forum. Can't get the pictures to come up here so here is the thread address.

Dan:

Here are yours, and my only Veco, the 61.

Bill.

Sorry, yours are too big. Going to have to put them on a diet. Here's my Veco anyway. wr.

Try again with a little more compression.

Bill.

PS: One was still too big. Forget it. wr.

Bill,

My Veco has plenty of "Compression." LOL.

OK, I see it will take 800 pixels wide. Funny, the other forums can handle the larger size. I thought they would automatically resize down.

Thanks for the tip. Here's a couple of test shots.

Dan:

Depends on the traffic at the time you post. If you look at the bottom of the window for adding a picture, it will tell you the maximum size in bytes for that moment. Usually it will say 3000 kb, but I've also seen it down to 200 kb. Last night it was at 200 kb.

When it's down to a low limit you also sometimes have to load the pictures one at a time. Click OK with just one indexed, then hit "Upload images" the second, and possibly the third and fourth times to load the pictures. Still a max of four per post, though. When it's at 3000 kb you can usually load four in a single operation.

Bill.

Bill,

I'm assuming that since a painted C was on the engine they made a stunt engine with the same case? If so how could one tell the engines apart if the paint were removed?

Thanks,

Tom Perry

This is probably a question that Dan Vincent could answer better. But from the outside you couldn't tell them apart once the "C" came off.

As a guess if you knew the port timing of the two engines you could get your degree wheel out and tell them apart that way.

How 'bout it Dan?

Bill.

PS: Are you the Tom Perry who played French Horn under Clyde Duvall? wr.

Externally the .35 Combat and .35 Stunt looked alike. I have some notes around here someplace but I believe you could tell by looking in the backplate cavity....if you knew what you were looking for.

I think there were port and crankshaft differences but you would have to have both types to compare them.
