Default Fuel for Cox Black Widow .049

Can i use the same fuel I use for my OS 46Fx/ Saito .91 in my Cox Black Widow .049?

I think the fuel I have at home is 20nit /20oil from Wildcat...

Any idea?

Hi Dani!

I´m a brazilian flier and I have some cox engines( .010-.049) and they work well with Heli fuels, like Wildcat HELI 30 %.

These engines need a high nitro percentage to work well!

You ´ll enjoy them!

Cheers.

Hi Dany........25% nitro, 20% CASTOR oil, 55% methanol would be the ideal blend for sport flying. I prefer to use only castor oil, just my opinion, I'm sure others may disagree.......John

Yes.

Part castor in the lube would be good. I think Cox fuel is 15% nitro, 18%lube.

Definitely something with some castor oil. I heard the ball and socket joint under the piston would fail prematurely if only synthetic lube was used.

I use mostly NORVEL 15% and 25% with added SIG castor to bring the oil up to about 20%-22%. I sometimes use Cool Power 10% with added castor. (These were bought in cases of quarts.)

When my current supply is depleated I will probably go with SIG or Wildcat (if I can get it).

I prefer 10%-15% nitro and 20%-22% all castor or half castor lube. Other mixes will work. Some folks tout more nitro. IMHO it works well but is not needed. This may vary depending on WHERE you are flying.

What you use depends partly on what you use it for. My use is mostly CL sport or stunt, some RC sport. If you are into racing you would want more nitro.
