Default Veco Tom-Tom

I can't seem to find the plans or anything for this old VECO kid. The Smoothie thread reminded me.
Any ideas on where I can find it? It was the last model my dad built before he gave up, and I'd like to build one.

Here is Tom Dixon's plans site. http://tomdixon.tripod.com/plans2.htm

It's under the "Classic Era" section. Trouble is, it's the kit plan. If I remember correctly, the kit plan is an isometric assembly sheet - not something you can use to build without a kit.

If Joe Wagner has them, they will be excellent plans.

BTW, a Tom Tom was the first larger than 1/2A plane I flew. It belonged to a friend.

There were 2 different Tom Toms. not sure when the design change was made before or after Dumas acquired Veco.?

If it is the one in the pictures below then I can help. When building this one I traced the parts onto the back of the iso plans.

Will have copies made soon and have someone on another site waiting for a set.

Let me know.

I used a "Sheriff Woody" head from "Toy Story" once in my Ringmaster. He wasn't too fond of my daisy cutter inverted passes.

The pilot is some kind of doll head from one of the places in town(Michals? Hobby Lobby? Academy??????)
The helmet area was done with felt tip pen. came with 5-6 in a package for couple of dollars.

She crashed several of mine. (She was "busted" to fit...)
Best pilot I ever had was a troll. Dude even recovered a Falcon 56 with the ailerons backwards...

Thats the later version. The earlier version is decidedly different. Turtle deck, canopy and generally a more interesting model.
Larry Richards kitted that version and it was an excellent kit. Sadly he's retired from the kit business.

The Veco Tom Tom was my first larger than half A airplane, and was powered with my first Fox 35 engine.

It was built with Ambroid cement on my foot locker at Sembach AB Germany in 1956, and painted with Aerogloss. I've no idea what happened to it (probably crashed), but would sure like to build another someday.

I have a CLC kit of the Tom Tom, but it's not for sale at any reasonable price.

Tony Drago (CLC) on another forum, probably knows where to get plans.

Bill

Hi All
Took plans to town then forgot about them!
Absent minded.
Lets see if I can make this work.
Some one make a test run and make sure size is not distorted from electronic transmissions.
When the vertical dashed lines are lined up fuselage length on tracing is 26 and 1/2 inches long
The push rod length on the original plans is 16 and 3/8 inches long C.to C.
This will probably take several post.

Save to my pictures.
Open with windows picture and fax Viewer and print from there seems to give me best results on the sizing.

Tracings
The crude die cutting, stuffing drawings into small scanner and probably done in a rapid hurry they need some checking.

Iso-
The 2 inner W-1 ribs should not be glued to spar,L.E. and T.E. until after main fuselage is installed on to wing.
The length of spars L.E. and T.E. is 36 inches.
The rib spacing BETWEEN ribs is 2 and 1/2 inches.( not for center ribs)

7 and 11/16 inches on tracing of rib W1.
This is from C/L at T.E. to the longest point at L.E.
Note that the T.E. portion of rib is not square. This is correct but may need changing for currently available wood.

Hi RW
You had to re size them?
How did you save, open. print them?(what programs?)

Was really hoping they would come across correctly and have done it in the past as long as the same programs were used.

Let me know what happened.

David
