Brodak Super Clown ARC - any tips before covering?
Hi guys!
I have bought a Super Clown, ARC version and was wondering if the fuse/wings need any kind of reinforcement here and there before covering.
Thanks and happy circling!

Pat,
I haven't seen this particular model, but often heard comments on ARFs, and I guess it would apply to ARCs as well, recommend to check the bellcrank, leadouts and pushrods... If there's any doubt about quality or sturdiness, change the parts for something more solid.

Absolutely - you will have to cut into the sheeting and check the leadout/bellcrank connection. I have heard of and seen way too many of these things failing in flight. There is a picture somewhere of an ARF Cardinal where the leadouts were put through the crimp tube, up through the bellcrank, doubled back through the crimp tube again and then given a spot of CA glue. The tube was never crimped! Another has a bellcrank bolt with no nut on the back side.
At least with the ARC, you can clean up before covering and the cutting should be hidden pretty easily.

Thanks for the tips guys
I have just finished covering the fuse, time to go to bed.
The wing is drying over night, gave a bead of PVA glue on the ribs and spars.

Gents,
The plane is all covered up, except for horizontal and vertical stabilizers. I now officially hate solarfilm and the like, much prefer solartex inspite of the higher price .
I'll post some photos later on as a sign of appreciation.
Cheers!
