You need a voltage divider to get it down to no more than 6V for the receiver.

also if you can help me out with one more thing. the way i have it set up is i have two motors one for each rear wheel. how would i set it up so that (forward on remote) would run both motors, and ( right/left, right joy stick) would run right or left motor?

you might need multiple esc's or a multi motor esc and if the motors have to turn seperate directions connect half properly and half backwards the they will all turn the same direction
