What would be good starting U-Control
 
I use to fly U-Control (.049) when I was a kid. Since then, I have flown R/C the rest of my life. Thinking about getting an U-Control just to fly for fun. I would like for it to be Electric.
I noticed that Sig has a Laser Cut Kit of the Berkeley Lancer. This looks like it might fit the bill? What do you think?

Finally, the photos that I have seen of the Sig Lancer does not show a landing gear. Maybe Sig will chime in and let me know if a landing gear comes with it.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

I have not seen the kit, but think the plane was an old time combat plane so I doubt there is a landing gear. It would be easy to bend one up. Looks similar to the Clown and Ringmaster which also would be fine since you have flown before. I don't know if electrics need a longer nose to balance properly?

While there are excellent reasons to start this adventure with electrons, when I returned to CL, I deliberately wanted the nostalgia of me and dad with 1960s with Ring Master type planes and McCoy or Fox 35s..
There are now over a dozen ways to do that
Ring Master, Twister, SkyRay, Primary Force, and on and on....from about 6 good reliable sources with very much better kits than we had in the 50s ,60s, or 70s

I guess if one is Electron competent, and already has a good selection of Batteries and charger...then the transition to EL Control line is less daunting and does offer a lot of pluses; lower noise (fly most anywhere) controllable flight time, etc etc

No need to reinvent the wheel
Brodak...has kits, ARC, and ARF models and good selection for the glow or E-flight systems needed

Just got off the SigMFG site and do not see where they still offer the Berkeley Lancer

Only Berkeley offering is the Mini Zilch in the control line series

My understanding that the Lancer is available now for sale through Sig. For some reason unknown to me, they have not gotten around to putting it on their site.

Another option are Walt Umland's superb kits, and he now has a series of very good e powered kits

Welcome to our new Electric kits section

And BTW almost every one I listed will be at the NATS for next 5~10 days so may be hard to get responses until they get back to home base
