The resin retainer is a better choice. The engine section has many threads on the subject. Of course EVERYTHING you read on the internet is true................

Resin = plastic. Different term from a different part of the world. I just went to a training class for the brand of tractors I work on. We were introduced to a "new" space age material, as the instructor called it..... we all called it plastic.

the os 50-55 heli motors use plastic retainer bearing sets, so if your local hobby shop has os bearings its a cinch to substitute the sx-h bearings as they are the same size

A friend shared with me a few days ago that he replaced the bearings in one of his engines. I don't recall whether he was going in with new or coming out with old, but he was using a propane torch to add heat to assist with getting the bearing in/out.... he said he soon had a hand full of balls as the retainer melted.
