Default Great Planes Cherokee .40 ARF Crash & Rebuild

I had a Great Planes Cherokee .40 ARF 60" electric. After an 8-minute flight, I checked the battery and still had plenty of juice. I thought it should not be a problem to have another 4-minute flight. Unfortunately, the battery went out and it was a dead stick. I thought it still had enough power to turn around for landing, but it stalled from about 12ft high and plunged to a grass field...

Here is how I rebuild the plane:

Cheers!

Peter, very well done, both the rebuild and the video! One thing though, that is the GP Cherokee 40, not 60. I have two of them.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing out the name of the plane.  Yeah, the name of the plane was a bit confusing.  Sometimes it was called .40 ARF but sometimes it was called 60" ARF.  I will change it to .40 ARF.

How do you like the plane? I am thinking of picking this one up but with glow power!

Great video!
The music fits perfectly.

Those are nice planes. I flew one for a while and really liked it.

Super predictable and did not have any bad habits.

I really like the plane. The best parts are its scale look and smooth performance. I think glow engine should work very well too, except it will be a bit messy. You have to clean it every time. I do have a glow plane and it doens't work well under 50F. It would take a long time to warm up. So far I like prefer electric. The only thing I don't like is that the landing wheels are too small for our lousy grass runway. I had to sacrifice those beautiful wheel pants and enlarged the wheels to 3".
