Default Wing Tube Straighten

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and have been perusing and searching for the answer to my question but haven't found it yet.

I have a Funtana with a slightly bent Aluminum wing tube.It is not bent enough to have a kink, but enough to make one wing not quite lined up with the fuse. Would any of you have any advice/suggestions on how Imight straighten this tube out with out damageing it more?

Thanks in advance

Dave

To be on the safe side I would replace the tube. While it could be straitened, it will be somewhat weaker in the area where it was bent. I'm sometimes accused of being a cheapskate and my first reaction would be to straiten, but you have already read my recommendation.

I agree with Ken............replace it!! I own that same bird, and I know how fragile the wing placement is. Very little support, and only a couple line up pins and small tube to keep that wing on the fuse.

REPLACE THE BENT TUBE!!!

I don’t know the diameter of your tube but I have a Sig Somethin’ Extra utilizing a piece of ¾” EMT.A 10’ stick can be purchased from Home Depot, etc. for about $4.It's in the electrical department. Just cut to length with a hacksaw.
Hope this helps.

I could tell a person how to straighten a minor bend but if you don't have a peace of pipe that will slide over your tube and some wood blocks, or a jack and 3 blocks forget it
