RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
#6 chrisgood's for correct use of a safety helmet.
but what happened to the others? i was gonna go for the Hornet or the P-38 vs Mustang. for me the P-38 Mustang had it by a mile.
i thought we had to vote on all the entries. hope we've not lost a few coz it's easier to post within the US[:'(][&o]

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
The biplane is without a doubt the best picture, but I didn't consider it for best crash. Catboatr's story was the funniest, bat it's not a new crash, it's ancient history.
First and second places weren't too hard for me to pick. Jim Messer's AirKnocker came very close, and could have been my first choice.
But ChrisGood took it for me. As I look at the picture I keep hearing the rug rats saying "That was neat, daddy! Do it again!"
Bill.

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
I actually saw a couple of "rugrats" get yelled at for saying something similar...lol...
Daddy's Enforcer dug a huge hole after experiencing flutter in a "terminal velocity" dive.
After carrying all the bits and pieces back to the flight line the kid goes: "That sure was a nice big hole daddy...really cool!"
The reaction of the father was about the funniest thing I have ever seen...

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
yours has humor value, but compared to missing entries it's hardly splattered, squirt of cyno, new prop and your good to go.
i don't want to cry fix, but what happened to all the other entries, some far better than whats on offer here. how did the finial 10 get decided?

Actually, the wings (once found) were fit only for the bin, the engine, once dug out of the ground will certainly not run again and the inside of the shattered plywood fus contained the mangled remains of three servos and a PCM rx. Even the nicad was thrown away. That was a hard field, and there is an OS 70 Surpass on the front in that picture, sadly 90% underground

RCU staff each picked a couple of their favorites to limit the field down. That way their was more than one perspective and no one person's personal preferences would determine the pool for the top 10.
No fix in, just a FREE flubber to some poor sap that MUNCHED a plane or 3.

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
I would have to agree with Phillybaby on this one. It was advertised that we entered our pics and stories we would be entered to win and now you pick the ten you think or your expert panel thinks are the best. Why was this not stated up front? If this contest was to be decided on by just a few why bother. Why not just pick the winner yourself and get it over with. Now you offer a vote to the masses but you dont offer all the entries. Come on guys you want RCU users to play your games then you make up the rules as you go. I for one will not take the time to enter any future "contest".
Good luck to the chosen few.
Ken

"On October 15th (extended), 2003 the RCU editing staff will select the 10 best entries. We will place these entries in a poll on in this forum. You, the site users, will vote for the winner." (taken from [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/RCUniverse_Contest_%2D_How_Mangled_Did_You_Go%3F/m_1143173/tm.htm]this post.[/link])
Sorry if some people misunderstood. This was just a FREE contest to have a little fun.

Phil, that ground looks FAR too soft!
I entered because it was a fun comp, I wouldn't want to win, I wouldn't fly an electric model if you paid me!

no, the planes just far too strong.
if you do win, i'd gladly intercept the plane before it reaches you
then i'll put a propper thrust generator upfront

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
My little offering is well behind in the voting; it's all in fun. I did read the rules and was aware that 10 would be offered for the public vote and was surprised that mine was one of them. But as has been stated, it IS a funny pic (especially if it isn't your engine and radio that got mangled [:@] )
Actually, I do have an electric glider, but please don't tell anyone

RE: Time to Vote: How Mangled Did You GO?!?!
Larry, I just get so much grief from the 'electric evangalists' in my club that I have to take a stand! Every time I am told that 'the future is electric' I want to buy a noisier, more powerful engine!
Electric assisted gliders don't count They're just a means of avoiding laying out & winding up bungees!

Well I can respect that. I may only own electric aircraft, but I've flown glow. A plane is a plane. I even own a glow RC car and a glow RC truck. I need to be careful, I've just used the word 'glow' four times in this post. [sm=bananahead.gif]
And for the record..... your glider counts! [sm=lol.gif]

I have to say that I did go and re-read the original post on this contest and I did in fact suffer from a terminal brain fart. My apologies for jumping the gun and mis-reading the information and posting to the fact. It happens from time to time and I have been a little scatter brained all week.
I will read any future contest rules a bit more closely.
later, Ken

Hey Larry, what happened to some of the linked large pictures in the thread starter? Some are only partials of the thumbnails.
#6 gets my vote, highest disintegration factor by far. 'Course if you fly off a surface like that, that's what you get...
