Was There a RC Heli Accident in AZ?
Was there a recent (past 2 weeks) accident involving an RC heli where there may have been a fatality.
A colleague of mine indicates he read it while in Tucson (Tucson local paper or USA Today).
I hope it is not true, but if it is true, my condolences go out to family and friends.
If there is more information we can learn from this please post it.
Thanks

Yes, unfortunately it is true. His name is Ron Kyle. I don't know the full story, but it sounded like he was training someone when the heli got away from him and hit him in the throat. There is a memorial fund page set up on runryder.com http://runryder.com/helicopter/t70866p1/
I didn't see an article with the full story, never the less, I don't need to read the story, I just feel badly for the families involved and wish them all the best. And to Ron, I hope the next world is even better than this one.

FYI...
You can do a google search and find more info... just search under: houston rc helicopter fatality...
The thing I could'nt get from the story is whether or not they were using a buddy-box configuration or if he was handing over the radio to student..
Could you...would you even try to train someone on helis without using a buddy-box... I would think that the heli (needing such close hands-on attention) could get out of control if you tried to just hand the box to someone next to you.
Does AMA post these incidents for us to learn from such tragic events?[sm=confused.gif]
