Hey man,
Dont knock a field with power lines. We have a field that has bee active for over 30 years with lines crossing the summer approach path. We have very few incidents with these. As long as you know where you are in relation to objects anything can be avoided

My buddy hit the power lines at the north end of our field. He completed the curcuit with his Goldberg Protoge'. He lost all the radio gear. The Skysport 6 is now his buddy box TX.

Late last summer I was bringing my Sig Lt-25 in for a landing when it struck a power line. It fell undamaged (a dent in the fuse and the wing root) down into a ditch with running water in it. I ran over and pulled the plane out before it "sank". My depth-perception was off, I thought the plane was closer than it actually was....[]

After hosing the engine out with WD-40 and letting the plane dry out for a month, I put her back up in the air with no apparent ill effects from the incident.

Do you ever get any interference from the powerlines ? We have had certain channels wig out at our field due to the high voltage lines. I held one of my planes under the lines and turned the switch on and it went nuts. As I walked away it straightened out and all the servos quit twitching. We don't fly at the end of the field anymore.

How is this for a carrier landing inverted about 50ft above the deck?

Believe it or not, there was no damage thanks to the Centra Hudson fella who brought a bucket truck and removed it by fiber-glass pole as if he owned the plane.

This happened at Orange County Park, Montgonery, NY.

Ultra Stick 60 set up w/trike gear and skis.

Looks like your due a trip to Graves Hobby Shop. Several people from my field have commented on how big the shop is and what a huge inventory they have.

That pic is awesome of the plane hanging.
A while ago there was a real plane that caught a power line with the tail wheel and it held
the fire department got up there and took out the pilot and passenger.

Kota_air, if you are going to graves take a bib and some advil/alleve. The bib is for the drooling that you will be doing and the pain killers are for your neck from snapping around looking at different airplanes and also for looking up at the ceiling for 4 hours.

There are so many airplanes hanging in there it is ridiculous. When you get in there the trainers are to the right in the main area, electrics to the left in the main area with everything else inbetween. The hallway on the right is helicopters and cars/truck along with batteries. Back room on the left is props/covering/paint/fuel.

Enjoy, I need to get up there for some landing gear.
