holy cow, now that really shows what you can do with a heli. Although I would never attempt such stunts with an audience around, it was still good flying.

Freakin' insane! During the super low hover, did he actually touch the very top of the main rotor on the ground? We have a guy that flies a lot like that, but probably not quite as good. That's some of the best heli flying I've seen.

Also - great camera work. Thanks for posting the video!

That guy has become one with his heli[sm=sleeping.gif]

Actually, I heard it was a drawn out radio malfunction and he was fighting it the whole time to keep it from crashing[sm=punching.gif] LOL

Awesome. period.

I think he did . if you listen REAL closely i think you can hear the rotors touching the ground at one point.

Semi related question: What ever happened to the inflight video forum? It didn't survive when they did the last makeover of RCU? Or, is it around here somewhere under my nose?

Great heli video, btw. Either he has a garage full of wrecked heli's practicing to get that good, or he has just truly found his calling. I suspect, that latter. Great pilot!!

sorry.
Figured it is most people here in the crashsection and I wanted as many as possible to see the vid. So I posted it here and, if you had read my post, wrote that it wasnt a crash vid.

Good Lord he's awesome! With a little practice he may even become as good as I am. Well okay I have yet to finish building my first plane but at least as good as I anticipate to be!

Actually, that was a fairly mild routine for Alan. I happen to be a member of the same club and we routinely watch Alan on weekends doing things that are just plain mystifying. To answer a couple of the comments on prior replies, yes, he actually puts the hub on the ground -- his control is nothing short of incredible. The video is super, but until you experience one of Alan's flights in person, you just cannot get the full impact. One of his "tune-ups" involves small traffic cones (about 4" tall) -- sets up a box on the grass with the cones standing up -- knocks them over with the skids -- then resets them by picking them up through the small hole in the tops (1" diameter?) with the skid and stubs the cone base into the ground while moving forward -- backs out as cone is righted. Ya gotta see it to believe it!

As an aside -- he's almost as good with a fixed wing on 3D stuff.
